Job Title: General Maintenance Worker
Job Location: Berjaya Waterfront Hotel Johor Bahru
Department: Facilities/Maintenance
Reports to: Maintenance Supervisor/Facilities Manager
Job Summary:
The General Maintenance Worker is responsible for performing routine and emergency maintenance tasks to ensure that buildings, grounds, and equipment are in safe, clean, and functional condition. This position requires a proactive approach to troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance in various systems, such as plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and carpentry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Routine Maintenance & Repairs:
- Perform regular inspections of facilities to identify any maintenance or repair needs.
- Conduct minor repairs on plumbing systems (leaky faucets, clogged drains, etc.), electrical systems (light fixtures, outlets, etc.), HVAC units, and appliances.
- Repair or replace doors, windows, locks, and other structural elements as needed.
- Preventive Maintenance:
- Conduct preventive maintenance on building systems, equipment, and tools to ensure longevity and functionality.
- Replace air filters, clean HVAC systems, and inspect and maintain water heaters, boilers, and other critical infrastructure.
- Maintain records of work performed, including routine inspections, maintenance schedules, and repairs.
- Groundskeeping and Outdoor Maintenance:
- Maintain cleanliness and appearance of the exterior of the building, including landscaping, parking lots, and outdoor signage.
- Perform snow removal, mowing, trimming, and other outdoor tasks as needed.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and guidelines when performing maintenance tasks.
- Maintain proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials (e.g., chemicals, oils, etc.).
- Identify and report safety hazards to the supervisor.
- Emergency Response:
- Respond promptly to emergency maintenance calls, such as water leaks, electrical failures, or equipment breakdowns.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues in a timely and efficient manner to minimize downtime and operational disruption.
- Inventory and Supplies:
- Maintain inventory of tools, equipment, and materials needed for maintenance tasks.
- Order supplies or materials as required and ensure they are stored properly.
- Collaboration and Reporting:
- Work closely with other departments or contractors when specialized skills or expertise are required.
- Report any major repairs, replacements, or upgrades needed to the Maintenance Supervisor.
- Provide excellent customer service by responding professionally to the needs of employees or tenants.
Qualifications:
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent; trade certification or vocational training in plumbing, electrical, HVAC, or related field is a plus.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in general maintenance, custodial work, or a related field.
- Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of building systems (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry).
- Ability to use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
- Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to lift heavy objects, perform physical labor, and work in a variety of environments (indoor and outdoor).
- Basic knowledge of safety standards and building codes.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: RM1,700.00 - RM2,000.00 per month
