The Payroll Specialist is responsible for accurate and timely payroll processing within a team, handling end-to-end payroll functions for various countries at Smith & Nephew. Key duties include data entry, updating Workday and local payroll platform systems, and handling interfaces with vendors. This role is versatile, and capable of supporting payroll needs beyond assigned countries as needed.
What will you be doing?
- The Payroll Specialist handles payroll data entry, employee updates, tax information, direct deposits, and hires/terminations, ensuring accuracy in Workday and local payroll systems. They audit payroll entries, handle employee garnishments, and work with HR for timely updates.
- The role involves coordinating interfaces, explaining pay slips to employees, conducting audits, and supporting system upgrades and data analytics projects. The Payroll Specialist handles cases via ServiceNow, provides resolutions within SLAs, and participates in continuous improvement initiatives.
What will you need to be successful?
- The Payroll Specialist is responsible for end-to-end payroll processing across multiple countries within Smith & Nephew, ensuring timely and accurate data handling in Workday and local payroll systems. Key duties include leading interfaces, handling employee updates, explaining payroll details, coordinating with HR, and auditing payroll entries to maintain accuracy and compliance.
- This role requires at least 3–5 years of regional payroll experience, strong customer service skills, and proficiency in payroll software like Workday. Additional responsibilities include working on system upgrades, responding to cases via ServiceNow, conducting data analysis, and participating in continuous improvement initiatives. The Payroll Specialist must be detail-oriented, able to work under pressure and maintain high confidentiality.
