Position Summary: Mont’Kiara International School seeks a dedicated School Librarian to support an enriching, student-centered library experience aligned with the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum and American educational standards. The librarian will foster a vibrant intellectual environment that encourages curiosity, critical thinking, and a lifelong love of learning, in keeping with M’KIS’s mission to “empower students to become caring, independent, and responsible global citizens” in a diverse, inclusive setting. Responsibilities: Curriculum Support & Collaboration: Partner with faculty across disciplines to integrate IB and American curriculum standards into the library’s resources and programs, enhancing students’ research skills, media literacy, and independent learning capabilities. The librarian will actively collaborate with teachers to design inquiry-based learning modules, supporting student success in the rigorous IB Middle Years and Diploma Programs. Resource Management & Curation: Oversee the library’s physical and digital resources, ensuring students have access to current, high-quality materials that support academic growth and global awareness. Manage a collection that reflects M’KIS’s diverse, international community, with an emphasis on materials that foster cultural understanding and critical engagement with a wide range of perspectives. Student Engagement & Community Building: Create a welcoming, inclusive library environment where students are encouraged to explore their interests. Develop programs and events that inspire reading, foster information literacy, and empower students to be responsible digital citizens. The librarian will also collaborate with student-led clubs and initiatives, supporting their goals and contributing to a positive school culture. Innovation & Technology Integration: Leverage educational technology and library management systems to provide seamless access to resources and promote digital literacy. Implement platforms that support research, citation management, and ethical use of information, aligning with both IB learning outcomes and M’KIS’s commitment to fostering students’ global competence and readiness for higher education. Professional Development & Advocacy: Stay updated on best practices in library science, education technology, and IB pedagogical strategies. The librarian will serve as an advocate for the role of the library in students’ intellectual and personal development, participating in the broader M’KIS community through faculty meetings, professional workshops, and parent engagement activities. Additional Duties All contracted teachers are required to: Supervise at least one after-school sport, club, or activity. Chaperone one after-school event (e.g., prom, school socials). Assist with school day duties, such as break and lunchtime supervision.
