SAFETY SUPERVISOR

Developing and implementing safety policies Safety officers create and implement health and safety strategies that comply with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) guidelines Identifying and controlling hazards Safety officers identify potential hazards, assess the risk, and implement measures to eliminate them Monitoring and reporting Safety officers monitor the workplace and report on safety issues Training staff Safety officers engage staff in programs to promote safe practices and coordinate training courses for new or hazardous operations Maintaining emergency procedures Safety officers maintain emergency response plans and ensure that relevant communication is distributed Ensuring compliance Safety officers ensure that the company complies with safety regulations and that employees follow safety policies Safety officers should have: A degree in a technical field, such as mechanical or structural engineering A certification in safety practices Good communication and interpersonal skills The ability to make sound decisions under pressure Knowledge of safety regulations Membership in the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH)
