The RN works closely with the medical team to ensure effective, efficient, and compassionate care for all patients. --- ### **Key Responsibilities** 1. **Patient Care** - Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care based on their medical needs and hospital protocols. - Administer medications and treatments prescribed by physicians, ensuring proper documentation. - Monitor and report changes in patients' symptoms, conditions, and vital signs. - Maintain patient safety, hygiene, and comfort throughout their hospital stay. 2. **Collaboration with Healthcare Team** - Work closely with physicians, allied health professionals, and other team members to provide comprehensive care. - Participate in patient rounds and communicate care plans with other healthcare providers. - Educate patients and families on health conditions, medications, and post-discharge care plans. 3. **Patient Documentation** - Accurately document patient care activities, observations, interventions, and assessments in patient medical records. - Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory, and hospital documentation standards. 4. **Medical Equipment & Procedures** - Operate and monitor medical equipment such as IV pumps, ventilators, and monitors. - Perform routine and emergency medical procedures as required, such as catheterizations, wound care, and administering IV fluids. 5. **Patient Advocacy** - Act as an advocate for patients' health, safety, and rights within the healthcare system. - Respect patients' cultural, religious, and individual needs while providing care. 6. **Infection Control & Safety** - Adhere to hospital policies regarding infection control and ensure proper hygiene and sanitation practices. - Participate in continuous education and training on infection prevention and patient safety protocols. 7. **Quality Assurance** - Participate in quality improvement initiatives aimed at improving patient outcomes and nursing standards. - Adhere to the hospital’s nursing standards and contribute to accreditation processes. --- ### **Qualifications** - **Education**: Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from a recognized institution. - **License/Certification**: Valid registration with the **Nursing Board of Malaysia**. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Advanced certifications (e.g., ACLS) are preferred. - **Experience**: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Registered Nurse in a hospital setting is preferred.
