Laboratory Assistant

Coordinates activities in the laboratory and ensures the smooth running of day-to-day laboratory activities.

· Schedules sample throughput, monitors work in progress, prioritizes sample analysis based on customer’s requirements and laboratory capability and ensures work is performed on time;

· Monitors and ensures that the quality management system as per ISO/IEC 17025 is implemented accordingly.

· Reports any sample violations to the Senior Chemist and carries out the necessary actions required before reporting results;

· Ensures the qualification, maintenance, and calibration of equipment as laid down under standard operating procedure is implemented accordingly;

· Reviews and verifies work affecting the results of laboratory activities;

Validates final test reports, where applicable

· Participates in laboratory activities, including but not limited to:

Ø performs instrumental and non-instrumental analysis using procedures described in the Analytical Methods;

Ø carries out quality control procedures and recognizes when data is unacceptable using the guidelines stated in the Test Methods or the Standard Operating Procedure;

Ø interprets data, calculates and validates results to ensure accuracy before reporting;

Ø takes immediate action to re-analyze any suspect samples and submits the relevant data to the Senior Chemist for review;

Ø documents nonconforming results and submits the necessary documentation to the Senior Chemist;

Ø carries out routine maintenance and calibration of instruments and maintains documentation;

Ø performs method validation per SOP;

Ø updates existing SOPs as necessary and submit to the Senior Chemist for approval;

Ø involves in the training of junior and new staff and maintains training records;

Ø monitors the supply level required and ensures they are adequate to meet the operational goals;

Ø maintains the cleanliness and tidiness of the laboratory area.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: RM1,700.00 - RM3,000.00 per month
