JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide legal advice across a broad range of matters, including copyright law, contract law, data protection and privacy law, communications, multimedia and media law, as well as any other laws relevant to the business operations of Astro.
- Review, draft and negotiate various types of agreements, including:
- (i) content production and licensing – talent/artiste engagement agreements, digital content and podcast agreements;
- (ii) media sales – sponsorships, media commitment and marketing agreements; and
- (iii) miscellaneous - as required for day-to-day operations such as non-disclosure agreements, barter agreements, venue rentals, software licensing, tenancy agreements and contractor engagement agreements.
- Review terms and conditions for radio contests, campaigns and on-ground events to ensure compliance with the relevant law
- Provide legal support to the various corporate services functions, such as Human Resources and Treasury.
- Provide legal training sessions to various business divisions of Astro.
REQUIREMENTS
- Degree in Law
- Called to the Malaysian Bar with at least 2-3 years PQE in a highly regarded law firm or in-house equivalent
- Excellent drafting, analytical and legal research skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Excellent communication (both verbal and written) skills and ability to develop strong relationships with colleagues within the Legal team and with the wider business units at all levels
- Ability to manage expectations of various stakeholders, prioritise and plan effectively
- Excellent organisational skills
- Willingness to learn and ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment
