Interpreter Support (Mandarin/Cantonese)

Role Overview We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Language Interpreter to join our team at Tech Mahindra in Cyberjaya. This role will provide first-person consecutive interpretation services, focusing on doctor-patient conversations within the U.S. healthcare system. The role is ideal for individuals who are fluent in both Mandarin/Cantonese and English, and it offers a chance to contribute meaningfully to patient care. The interpreter will play a key role in facilitating effective communication during medical consultations, ensuring accurate and culturally sensitive interpretation. This is a night-shift position with attractive benefits and allowances, including transport and shift allowances, as well as a sign-on bonus for contract extensions. Key Responsibilities: • Deliver accurate meaning-for-meaning interpretation between Mandarin/Cantonese-speaking patients and English-speaking healthcare professionals • Adhere to interpretation protocols, confidentiality policies, and ethical guidelines • Attend mandatory training sessions to enhance interpretation skills and understanding of medical terminology • Work collaboratively with healthcare professionals to support patient care and communication. Skills & Abilities: • Proficiency in Mandarin/Cantonese and English, with strong verbal and written communication skills • Basic knowledge of linguistics, interpretation techniques, and cross-cultural communication • Ability to adapt quickly to changing circumstances and handle challenging situations calmly • Commitment to confidentiality and ethical standards in medical interpretation. Requirements: • Experience: 0 to 5 years of interpretation experience (Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply) • Language Proficiency: Fluency in Mandarin/Cantonese and good command of English • Work Location: Tech Mahindra, Cyberjaya (Work from office) • Working Hours: 5 days a week (Monday to Friday), Permanent night shift with allowances. • Night Shift - 9 PM - 6 AM or 10 PM - 7 AM • Contract Duration: 2-month initial contract with the possibility of a 12-month extension. Compensation & Benefits: • Salary: RM4,000 - RM5,000 per month • Transport Allowance: RM 500 per month (pro-rated) • Shift Allowance: RM 25 per night • Sign-on Bonus: RM 1000 if the contract is extended for 12 months • Medical Coverage: Up to USD 80K annually for self, spouse, and children (each individual) • Out-patient medical benefits up to 250 USD (for each individual), for self, spouse & children (if any) • Optical & Dental Benefits: Up to USD 120 for optical and USD 500 for dental for self, spouse & children (each individual) (Claimable after completion of 1 year for permanent/converted employee only) • Annual leave: 10 days in the first two years, 12 days after completion of 2 years (prorated) • Medical leave: 14 days as per labour law • Bereavement leave: 3 working days in an event of death in the immediate family (Spouse, Children, parents) • Maternity leave: 98 consecutive days (To start not earlier than 30 days from the expected due date or post the due date) • Paternity leave: 7 days • RM 20 E-voucher (Touch n Go) Open referral campaign to refer friends/family How to Apply: If you are proficient in Mandarin/Cantonese and English, passionate about helping others, and ready for an exciting career in language interpretation, we encourage you to apply or send in your resume to Janane at [email protected] to have a confidential discussion.
