Athletic Director

The athletic director oversees the sports program for all divisions of the school. The athletic director is charged with creating a developmentally-appropriate pipeline of athletes. The athletic director provides clear vision and direction for the athletic program, directs development and growth of the extra-curricular program, and develops the athletic department based on the team philosophy of ministry. He or she will build a first class, competitive athletic department with a sense of purpose that inspires the staff, parents, and students to maintain a sense of excellence in extra-curricular athletics. The athletic director provides leadership which includes supervising and training the coaches, officials and students. The athletic director works with the school staff and community to develop and implement a positive athletic program. He or she coordinates and communicates athletic schedules and events to the Dalat community by posting facility usage and events on the calendar and provides submissions to Dalat News. The athletic director oversees the staff and coaches in program planning, implementation, and evaluation. He or she is responsible to communicate with coaches individually about problems or differing philosophies when the need arises. The athletic director ensures that new coaches are properly vetted and complete the required training program (including child safety and protection). He or she is responsible for evaluating coaching staff and communicating with the staff regarding their evaluation. The athletic director oversees stewardship and appropriate upkeep of the school’s athletic facilities and resources including the gymnasium, outdoor courts, upper field, and the respective equipment. The athletic director is responsible for maximizing the finances of the Athletic Department including equipment, travel, tournaments and maintenance requirements. The athletic director promotes a positive image of the school to the different constituent groups of the school community, Penang, and the Southeast Asian region.
