Head of Engineering

Job Summary: The Resort Head of Engineering is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the engineering department within a resort facility. This leadership role involves managing a team of engineers and technicians to ensure the smooth operation, maintenance, and improvement of all engineering systems and infrastructure within the resort. The Resort Head of Engineering plays a crucial role in maintaining safety standards, optimizing energy efficiency, and enhancing the overall guest experience. Key Responsibilities: Team Leadership: Recruit, train, and lead a team of skilled engineers and technicians. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment. Set performance expectations, conduct regular performance reviews, and provide feedback to team members. Facility Maintenance: Oversee the maintenance and repair of all resort infrastructure, including HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical systems, and other critical components. Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend the life of equipment. Safety and Compliance: Ensure that all engineering activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations. Implement and enforce safety protocols to protect both guests and staff. Conduct regular safety audits and training sessions for engineering staff. Budget Management: Develop and manage the engineering department budget. Identify cost-saving opportunities and efficiencies without compromising quality and safety. Project Management: Oversee engineering projects from conception to completion. Collaborate with other departments to plan and execute renovations, upgrades, and new construction projects. Energy Efficiency and Sustainability: Implement strategies to improve energy efficiency and promote sustainable practices within the resort. Evaluate and recommend the adoption of new technologies and systems to reduce environmental impact. Vendor Management: Collaborate with external vendors and contractors for specialized services and equipment. Negotiate contracts and ensure that vendors adhere to quality and safety standards. Guest Satisfaction: Work closely with other departments to address guest complaints and resolve maintenance-related issues promptly. Strive to enhance the overall guest experience through well-maintained facilities. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field; advanced degree preferred. Proven experience in a leadership role within the engineering or facilities management field, preferably in a resort or hospitality setting. Strong technical knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and building management systems. Excellent project management and organizational skills. Familiarity with relevant regulations and industry best practices. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills. Ability to troubleshoot and solve complex engineering problems. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
