Responsibilities: Collaborate with project managers and other engineers to understand project requirements and specifications They want to pursue a deep understanding of the injection moulding process and the factors that influence the design of parts for this process. Design and develop mechanical systems and components using SolidWorks CAD software Perform engineering calculations to ensure designs meet functional and safety standards Create and analyse prototypes Participate in design reviews and make modifications as needed Prepare technical documentation, such as engineering drawings and assembly instructions Selecting the appropriate plastic materials based on factors like strength, heat resistance, and compatibility with the injection moulding process Designing parts with features that facilitate manufacturability through injection moulding, such as proper wall thickness, draft angles, and gating systems Optimizing part geometry to minimize shrinkage, warpage, and other potential defects common in injection moulding Analysing the potential for weld lines and designing features to mitigate their structural impact Collaborating with mould designers to ensure the functionality and manufacturability of the final product Design and develop injection moulds to produce plastic components that meet product specifications. Collaborate with product design engineers, manufacturing, NPD and QA team to ensure manufacturability of new designs and enhance existing products. Testing with the prototype parts and assembling processes to ensure that the parts are functioning properly and able to mate easily with each other. Further load testing with various scenarios. Analyse product design per compliance with relevant standards and expected product lifetime requirements. Analysing material choices and testing the products against these requirements. Analyse and improve injection moulding processes with emphasis on mould longevity and consistent parts moulded using various methodologies such as Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing (training can be arranged with bond). Stay updated with advancements in tooling technologies and materials to continually improve product design and keep up to date with new trends. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering with emphasis on product design or plastic moulding. Familiar with CAD software such as SolidWorks. Willing to learn and understand polymer science and the properties of different plastics. Familiarity with statistical analysis tools and process optimization techniques. Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Strong communication and organisational skills.
