Department Overview
The Motorola Solutions Global Documentation team along with their Global and Regional business partners identify, create, deliver, and access Education and Enablement programs and tools for Customers, Channel Partners, and Employees. The programs and tools build skills, knowledge, and behaviors that enable our audiences to drive optimal business performance.
Job Description
Content Developer is responsible for creating, editing, and maintaining high quality, comprehensive subscriber documentation. Content developer can accomplish the tasks by interpreting technical data into clear and concise printed and online written content that can easily be used by technical personnel and end users with varying degrees of knowledge. Types of content that a Content Developer is expected to produce are quick start guides, user guides, service manuals, online help, safety leaflets, accessories and more. The content developer will be using desktop publishing tools such as EasyDITA and oXygen to produce the content.
Content Developer can accomplish the assignments by working with internal (project manager, information architect, media specialist, and production specialist) and external (subject matter experts from engineering) to plan and develop assigned content. Researching and interviewing skills, coupled with a curious mind to know how things works are a plus.
Content Developer is expected to develop and maintain content development skills and tools through various Learning and Development programs and skill matrix development. CDs are expected to stay abreast of changing product, information technologies, and the technical communication industry. Thirst for innovation, multimedia, and technology are a plus.
A typical day for a content developer day is as follows:
• Work with the project manager to ensure that your assigned content is on track in meeting deadlines.
• Work with an information architect to meet content designs and strategies.
• Participate in meeting to understand product features, participates in scrum ceremonies to update the scrum team on project progress and address issues.
• Work with the engineering team by conducting interviews and researches about the product features.
• Translate the technical specifications and technical data into more laymen content that transgress user’s various knowledge backgrounds.
• Develop the content using desktop publishing tools (oXygen and EasyDITA, Adobe FrameMaker, Adobe Acrobat Pro).
• Ensure content adheres to Motorola Solutions Writing Standards.
• Ensure content are for review by peers and technical reviewers.
• Work with translation coordinators to translate English manuals to localized languages.
• Work with media developers to ensure the content graphics adheres to Motorola Solutions Branding Guidelines.

Basic Requirements
Basic Skills & Requirements:
- Candidate must have at least a Bachelor's Degree in the relevant field
- Strong command of English language (oral and written).
- Good computer knowledge.
