A Production Engineer in the precast industry is responsible for overseeing the manufacturing processes that involve the production of precast concrete components used in construction. These engineers play a key role in ensuring efficiency, quality, safety, and innovation in the production of precast products like walls, slabs, beams, columns, and other structural elements. Below is a typical job description for this role:
Job Purpose:
To oversee the daily production of precast concrete components, ensuring that manufacturing processes meet quality standards, production schedules, and safety regulations. The Production Engineer will manage production teams, optimize processes, troubleshoot issues, and work on continuous improvements to enhance productivity, safety, and cost-effectiveness.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Production Management:
- Supervise and manage the production process for precast concrete products.
- Ensure production targets and deadlines are met.
- Monitor daily production activities to ensure high efficiency and productivity.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production-related issues, including machinery breakdowns or quality concerns.
2. Quality Control:
- Ensure that all precast concrete products meet the required quality standards and specifications.
- Conduct daily/regular inspections and tests on the products to ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Collaborate with the quality assurance team to maintain consistency and improve production quality.
3. Process Optimization:
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance production efficiency and reduce waste.
- Recommend and implement changes to equipment or methods that can improve quality or reduce costs.
- Monitor raw material usage to ensure optimal consumption and minimize waste.
4. Safety & Compliance:
- Ensure that all safety standards and protocols are followed in the production process.
- Conduct safety audits and maintain a safe work environment for all production staff.
- o Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations in manufacturing operations.
5. Team Coordination & Supervision:
- Lead and motivate production teams/workers, ensuring that the workforce is adequately trained and equipped.
- Oversee the scheduling and allocation of tasks to workers.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and production staff.
6. Maintenance & Equipment Management:
- Work closely with the maintenance team to ensure equipment is well-maintained and operating efficiently.
- Plan and schedule preventive maintenance to minimize downtime.
- Assist in troubleshooting technical issues with machinery and equipment.
7. Reporting & Documentation:
- Prepare and maintain production reports, including output, quality control data, and machine performance.
- Document processes and provide regular updates to senior management.
- Record incidents, accidents, and other relevant issues to ensure compliance with legal and company standards.
8. Project Coordination:
- Work alongside project managers to ensure that precast components are delivered on time and as per project requirements.
- Coordinate the production schedule with project timelines to avoid delays.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
- 3-5 years of experience in the precast concrete or construction industry.
- Experience in managing production processes and overseeing teams is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of precast concrete production processes, equipment, and materials.
- Familiarity with quality control, safety standards, and regulatory compliance in the precast industry.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong communication and leadership skills to effectively manage teams and collaborate with cross-functional departments.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: RM3,000.00 - RM5,500.00 per month
