Job Summary: The Material & Corrosion Engineer is responsible for ensuring the durability and performance of materials used in the paper mill manufacturing process. Material Selection and Testing: -Select and recommend suitable materials for use in paper mill machinery, including pulping, pressing, and drying equipment. -Perform material testing to assess strength, durability, and corrosion resistance under varying environmental conditions (e.g., moisture, chemicals, temperature). 2. Corrosion Prevention and Control: -Analyze potential corrosion risks and develop strategies to prevent corrosion in equipment, pipelines, and other machinery used in the paper production process. -Implement coatings, inhibitors, and protective measures to enhance the lifespan of materials and machinery. -Regularly monitor the corrosion status of critical equipment and components, ensuring proactive interventions to prevent failures. 3.Maintenance Support: -Collaborate with the maintenance team to conduct regular inspections and maintenance of paper mill machinery, identifying corrosion-related issues and ensuring the proper functioning of all systems. -Provide technical support for troubleshooting material and corrosion-related problems in manufacturing processes. -Assist in the planning and execution of maintenance schedules to minimize machine downtime. 4.Failure Analysis and Reporting: -Investigate material failures caused by corrosion or other environmental factors and determine the root cause. -Prepare detailed reports and recommendations for corrective actions to prevent future failures. 5.Research and Development: -Conduct research to develop new corrosion-resistant materials or improve existing ones. -Collaborate with R&D teams to enhance paper mill manufacturing processes through innovative material solutions and technologies. 6. Quality Control and Improvement: -Ensure the materials used in the paper-making process meet industry standards and quality requirements. -Recommend improvements in material usage and corrosion prevention techniques to enhance product quality and process efficiency. 7. Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance: -Ensure all corrosion prevention practices and material selection comply with environmental regulations and safety standards. -Advocate for sustainable and eco-friendly materials and processes, reducing the environmental impact of paper mill operations. 8. Documentation and Record-Keeping: -Maintain accurate records of material performance, corrosion tests, maintenance activities, and inspections. -Provide regular reports to management on the status of materials and corrosion control efforts.
