Technical Advisor – Heavy Machinery Industry
Job Description:
The Technical Advisor is responsible for offering expert technical assistance to customers and internal teams on the operation, maintenance, and repair of heavy machinery. This role includes recommendations for improvements, and ensuring the highest standards of parts and machinery performance. The advisor will also be responsible for training staff on product knowledge, new product research and development as well safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Support & Troubleshooting:
- Provide expert troubleshooting and problem-solving for machinery breakdowns or operational issues with accurate parts replacement
- Analyze and assist in identifying causes of malfunction and to advice on suitable parts replacement for clients
- Assist customers with diagnosing and resolving technical issues related to machinery operations, mechanical/electrical systems, and maintenance.
- Provide advice on machine upgrades, repairs, and modifications to enhance performance and efficiency
Client Interaction:
- Work closely with clients to assess their technical needs and provide tailored solutions for their machinery.
- Conduct on-site visits to inspect and evaluate machinery, providing technical feedback and recommendations.
- Provide expert guidance on the operation, maintenance, and safety of machinery to customers.
- Serve as the point of contact for technical inquiries, providing timely and effective solutions.
Training & Development:
- Train staff on proper equipment usage, safety protocols, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Develop and deliver training materials, manuals, and technical documents for internal staff and clients.
- Ensure the team is kept up-to-date on the latest machinery innovations, technologies, and best practices.
Maintenance & Safety Compliance:
- Ensure machinery is operated and maintained in compliance with safety standards, local regulations, and manufacturer guidelines.
- Monitor the maintenance activities of machines and ensure that preventative maintenance schedules are followed.
- Advise on the replacement of worn-out parts or machinery and ensure the proper ordering and installation of spare parts.
Technical Documentation & Reporting:
- Prepare detailed technical reports and documentation on machine performance, diagnostics, and repairs.
- Provide regular updates and progress reports to clients, management, and teams regarding machinery status and performance.
- Record all technical support and service activities, including repairs, modifications, and service intervals.
Project Support & Coordination:
- Assist in the coordination of projects involving the commissioning, installation, or upgrading of machinery.
- Work closely with the project management team to ensure that equipment meets client specifications and is delivered on time.
- Support the delivery of large-scale projects by providing technical expertise on machinery needs and configuration.
Sales & Product Knowledge:
- Support the sales team by providing technical expertise during the sales process.
- Educate clients about machinery features, advantages, and the benefits of new equipment models.
- Offer solutions for clients seeking customized machinery or specific technical solutions.
Qualifications:
- Education: A bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 8-10 years of experience working with heavy machinery, either in a technician, engineering, or technical support role.
- Certifications: Relevant industry certifications, such as from machinery manufacturers (e.g., Caterpillar, Komatsu) or safety certifications (e.g., OSHA).
- Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of heavy machinery (excavators, bulldozers, cranes, etc.).
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for both mechanical and electrical systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with clients and team members.
- Ability to understand and create technical documentation and reports.
- Project management skills and the ability to coordinate with different teams.

- Ability to travel frequently for on-site inspections and client interactions.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: RM3,000.00 - RM6,000.00 per month
