School of Engineering and Technology at Sunway University welcomes interested candidates to submit their resume for the above stated vacancy with the following job specifications: Responsibilities: Senior Research Fellows are expected to provide leadership in and contribute to research and the general administration, support and management of the Department/Centre, School and University, including undertaking leadership roles. They are also expected to undertake some teaching, particularly at postgraduate level including by electronic/online means. Academic staff members are expected to engage actively in activities to develop or enhance their teaching, research and/ or professional expertise relevant to their profession or discipline area. Staff may also be required to undertake other duties, commensurate with an academic position at the level of Senior Research Fellow, depending on the needs of the Department and individual strengths. Research: • Conduct research in relevant disciplines; • Publish high quality journal articles, conference papers and/or other peer reviewed outputs as appropriate to the subject discipline; • Secure funding to support their research; • Supervise student research projects, including Doctoral and/or Masters students; • Lead on and participate in collaborative research projects with colleagues both within and external to the University; • Engage proactively with the wider research community in their fields of study, promoting their own research and the academic reputation of the University. Service: • Undertake leadership roles within the department and school, including the chairing of departmental- and/or school-level committees, and/or acting as a Programme Leader or equivalent role; • Assist, coordinate and participate in internal and external events, such as open days, outreach activities, and visits to partner institutions and internship placements; • Support and assist senior colleagues in ensuring the smooth running of the department and programmes; • Provide academic counselling to students, referring them to other support services as required; • Mentor junior staff. Teaching: • Design, plan and deliver lectures, tutorials and other teaching and learning activities appropriate to their discipline, particularly at postgraduate level; • Assess student work and progress, providing constructive and timely feedback; • Review the effectiveness of their teaching and supervision and proactively seek ways to improve the quality and effectiveness of their teaching; • Attend and contribute to Subject and Programme Boards as necessary. Requirements: • A PhD in Materials Science/ Engineering/ Physics/ Chemistry/ Chemical Engineering/Thermal Engineering. • Research experience in the areas of advanced materials, solar/ renewable energy, energy storage, heat transfer, electrochemistry, etc. • A strong track record of scholarly research, publication, research grant writing experiences. • Excellent analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills. • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and effectively to diverse audiences. • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research environment.
