Childcare cook

Position Summary:

The Cook is responsible for preparing nutritious, age-appropriate meals and snacks for children, ensuring food safety and cleanliness standards are met. This role supports the kindergarten's mission by fostering a healthy eating environment that contributes to the children’s well-being and development.

Key Responsibilities:

Meal Preparation:

• Plan and prepare daily meals and snacks that are nutritious, balanced, and meet the dietary needs of children.
• Ensure meals comply with any allergies, special dietary requirements, or cultural food preferences.
• And some marketing activities.

Menu Planning:

• Collaborate with management to develop weekly menus that align with nutritional guidelines.
• Adjust menus as needed based on seasonal ingredients and feedback from children and staff.

Food Safety and Hygiene:

• Maintain a clean and organized kitchen at all times.
• Follow food safety and hygiene regulations, including proper storage, preparation, and handling of food.
• Conduct regular cleaning of kitchen equipment and utensils.

Inventory and Supplies:

• Monitor and manage kitchen inventory, ensuring sufficient stock of ingredients and supplies.
• Coordinate with vendors for timely procurement of fresh, high-quality ingredients.
• Keep records of food usage and purchases.

Compliance and Record-Keeping:

• Adhere to local health and safety regulations.
• Maintain records of food allergies, substitutions, and any incidents related to food.

Team Collaboration:

• Work closely with kindergarten staff to schedule meal times that align with daily activities.
• Assist in organizing special events or themed meal days as needed.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a cook, preferably in a childcare or educational setting.
• Knowledge of child nutrition and dietary needs.
• Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene practices.
• Organizational and time management skills to manage meal preparation on schedule.
• Ability to cater to dietary restrictions and food allergies.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform kitchen tasks.
• Comfortable lifting and carrying kitchen supplies and equipment up to 20kg.

Work Schedule:

• Full-time position, aligned with the kindergarten’s operational hours. Occasional flexibility is required for special events.
