Systems Administrator (Microsoft Azure/Windows)

Key Responsibilities:
1. Daily System Administration:
a. Monitor the health and performance of servers and infrastructure; log and resolve incidents related to customer access, server performance, and availability.
b. Manage and document daily activity logs, server issues, and ad-hoc tasks requiring off-hours or weekend support.
2. Azure Environment Management:
a. Set up and monitor Azure VM alerts for CPU and RAM usage; manage configurations and respond to notifications on system health.
b. Ensure best practices for Azure-based server configurations, including storage and networking setup.
3. Database and Application Management:
a. Oversee SQL databases, including performance monitoring, disk management, and implementation of Transparent Data Encryption (TDE) for customer data protection.
b. Monitor applications and URLs, using tools like PHP Server Monitor, and respond to any performance or availability issues flagged in system logs.
4. Backup, Disaster Recovery, and Security:
a. Manage daily backups and ensure offsite storage, oversee regular disaster recovery planning and testing.
b. Perform quarterly vulnerability scans and semi-annual penetration testing to secure applications and systems against potential threats.
c. Ensure adherence to security protocols and respond to customer security questionnaires related to the SaaS environment.
5. Scheduled Maintenance:
a. Conduct quarterly maintenance for system updates, disk space checks, and implement any necessary patches or configurations.
b. Plan and execute annual system hardening for both servers and databases, based on industry benchmarks (CIS).
c. Support semi-annual and annual activities, including budget planning and documentation reviews.
6. Documentation and Reporting:
a. Maintain clear documentation on system configurations, incident reports, and maintenance logs.
b. Update and maintain records for audits and compliance purposes, such as ISO 27001 standards.
7. Collaborative and Ad-Hoc Support:
a. Work closely with application, sales, and consulting teams for coordinated system support.
b. Provide configuration and setup support for new customers and manage the termination or transfer of SaaS environments.
c. Collaborate with external vendors for service management and work with internal teams on technical troubleshooting.
8. Business Continuity and Process Improvement:
a. Develop and recommend automated processes to improve operational efficiency, performance, and security of the SaaS environment.
b. Support network management, VPN setup, firewall configurations, and user access controls.
c. Actively engage in weekly team meetings for updates and project reviews.
Skills Needed:
1. Technical Proficiency:
a. Strong background in Microsoft Azure (VM management, monitoring tools, best practices).
b. Knowledge of Windows Server administration (2016/2019) and SQL Server management (2012/2019).
c. Familiarity with Active Directory, VPN, VMWare, and MS-HyperV for enhanced server management.
2. Programming and Scripting Skills:
a. Proficiency in PowerShell or similar scripting language for automation and system management tasks.
3. Monitoring and Troubleshooting Skills:
a. Experience with system monitoring tools (e.g., PHP Server Monitor, Azure Monitor) and ability to respond to server and application alerts.
b. Competent in disk space management and log analysis.
4. Security Knowledge:
a. Familiar with vulnerability assessment tools such as Nessus Essentials and Pentest Tools; experience in security best practices for server/database hardening.
5. Networking Skills:
a. Understanding of network management and security protocols, including firewalls and VPN configuration.
6. Communication and Collaboration:
a. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; able to document incidents, collaborate with internal and external teams, and report issues effectively.
7. Proactive and Detail-Oriented:
a. Ability to handle daily tasks, scheduled maintenance, and respond promptly to system alerts, with a focus on accuracy and consistency.
Qualifications:
1. Education:
a. Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
2. Certifications (Preferred):
a. Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate.
b. CompTIA Security+ or Microsoft Certified: Security, Compliance, and Identity Fundamentals.
c. ISO/IEC 27001 Lead Implementer (for compliance and process improvement).
3. Experience:
a. 2 years and above of experience in cloud infrastructure management, ideally within a SaaS or cloud-based environment.
b. Hands-on experience with Windows Server administration and Azure SaaS management.
c. Fresh graduates with relevant skills and a willingness to learn are encouraged to apply for junior roles.

Pay: RM3,600.00 - RM5,500.00 per month
