Job Description:
- Sourcing and Selection: Select appropriate materials (wires, connectors, insulation, coatings, etc.) based on product requirements, industry standards, and cost constraints.
- Material Innovation: Develop and recommend new materials or technologies to enhance wire harness performance, improve durability, or reduce manufacturing costs.
- Specification Development: Create material specifications for wire harness components, ensuring they meet industry requirements, including UL, ISO, and RoHS standards.
- Material Testing: Conduct testing for electrical conductivity, thermal resistance, insulation properties, flexibility, and durability under environmental conditions (e.g., heat, humidity, vibration, etc.).
- Failure Analysis: Investigate and analyze material failures to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions for improved reliability.
- Compliance Testing: Ensure that materials comply with safety, regulatory, and environmental standards (e.g., UL, RoHS, REACH).
- Cross-functional Coordination: Work closely with design, production, quality control, and procurement teams to select the most suitable materials and ensure seamless integration in wire harness production.
- Vendor Management: Collaborate with suppliers to evaluate materials and ensure consistent quality, cost-effectiveness, and availability.
- Cost Optimization: Identify cost-effective materials without compromising performance, quality, or safety. Negotiate with suppliers to achieve competitive pricing and value.
Education Level:
- Bachelor’s degree in Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
Working Experience:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in material engineering, specifically within the wire harness or automotive wiring industry.
- Experience with materials like copper wire, insulation materials, connectors, and coatings used in wire harnesses.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as crimping, soldering, and injection molding for wire harness production.
Knowledge/Skills:
- Strong understanding of material properties, including electrical conductivity, thermal resistance, and mechanical strength.
- Familiarity with industry standards such as UL, ISO 9001, and RoHS.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and material simulation or design software (e.g., CAD tools).
- Strong analytical skills and problem-solving capabilities.
- Knowledge of supply chain management and supplier coordination.
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Contract length: 12 months
Pay: RM3,500.00 - RM6,000.00 per month
