At Micron, we are searching for an outstanding Senior Engineer - Global Quality (GQ) Operation Lab Strategic Planning to join our highly skilled team in Penang, Malaysia.
As strategic planners, we are responsible to own and manage the assessment and the planning of securing GQ Ops resources: the required budget, capacity, and headcount, using engineering skills. We need to constantly be aware of both the product roadmap and the operation needs to suggest and coordinate the best path forward plan with relevant partners in the execution team as well as the management team.
We need to be fast learners in understanding operation metrics, indices, and process to translate the operations needs for long term two-to-three-year plan. We identify risk to the strategic plan early and discuss with key partners for the most optional mitigation and preventive plan.
We need to be quickly familiar with the detail business process on how to secure the required said resources. We apply strong collaborations with various partners from manufacturing team, lab operation team, engineering team, equipment support team, procurement team and finance team.
We have plenty of opportunity to be involved in the Digital Transformation for GQ Ops central planning systems to provide near real time headcount, capacity, and budget resources requirements. We will be influencing how the system is designed to check performance to plan to ensure that the long-term-plan is updated to the latest situations with each cadence. This will culminate in enabling the team to provide prompt response on the strategic assessment, planning and improvements. Responsibilities and Tasks
- Own and manage quarterly strategic planning budget, capacity and headcount statement and assessment of up to 3 years horizon for Global Quality Lab Operations.
- Comprehend operations needs including changes in the pipeline.
- Comprehend Micron product roadmap needs.
- Suggest and initiate potential improvements in the planning of the resources required through collaboration with partners from various team such as engineering, production, equipment support, procurement, and finance team.
- Assess and recommends loading offload between countries.
- Manage New Product Qualification Readiness
- Manage readiness of hardware, software and operation such that all are on track for the qualification to start on time to meet the required qualification release date.
- Promptly engage relevant partners to formulate recovery plan for real time issues encountered while preparing for qualification readiness.
- Digital Transformation for GQ Ops central planning systems
- Analyze current and the required future processes and systems that is instrumental to give insights on (1) resources requirement and (2) opportunities for improvement that support business needs.
- Initiate collaboration to scope out system requirements.
- Collaborate with main partners to plan for digitalizing systems.
- Communicate status of projects.
- Report issues, risks, changes, and drive initiatives for recovery, mitigation, and preventive measures.
- Assist with documentation and training needs for new processes.
- Manages projects to ensure desired results are completed within the required timeframe.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in industrial engineering & management, engineering, supply chain, or related field and/or equivalent experience.
- Two years of experience in planning or planning-related function, preferably within Micron.
- Preferably with experience or at least willing to learn, in the following areas:
- Familiar with database management system
- Strong skills in data presentation (Tableau, Power BI).
- Strong critical and analytical thinking skill.
- Strong problem-solving skills with ability to multi-task and manage numerous projects simultaneously.
- Able to work in several areas of a development cycle as part of a team or independently.
- High adaptability and flexibility to deal with variety of problems in a fast-paced environment.

- As the role is expecting to support Taiwan site, hence proficiency in Mandarin would be an added advantage.
