Job Summary: The EHS Officer is responsible for overseeing the company’s environmental, health, and safety practices to ensure a safe working environment for all employees and compliance with relevant regulations and standards. This role involves monitoring, reporting, and improving EHS practices, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring that safety policies are properly enforced. Key Responsibilities: Compliance Management: Ensure compliance with all environmental, health, and safety regulations, policies, and procedures at the local, state, and federal levels. Stay up-to-date on changes in EHS laws and regulations and advise management accordingly. Risk Assessment: Conduct regular risk assessments and safety audits to identify potential hazards in the workplace. Recommend corrective actions and follow up on their implementation to minimize health, safety, and environmental risks. Accident and Incident Investigation: Investigate workplace accidents, injuries, or near misses and document findings. Recommend measures to prevent future incidents and ensure compliance with regulatory reporting requirements. Environmental Management: Monitor environmental impact and implement strategies to reduce waste, pollution, and energy consumption. Oversee waste disposal, recycling, and environmental sustainability programs. Safety Program Implementation: Develop, implement, and enforce safety policies and procedures to ensure the safety and well-being of employees. Ensure all safety equipment, such as PPE (personal protective equipment), is available and properly maintained. Emergency Response: Develop and maintain emergency response plans for fire, natural disasters, chemical spills, and other emergency situations. Conduct drills and ensure employees are familiar with emergency procedures. Reporting and Documentation: Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, audits, accidents, and incidents. Prepare and submit regular reports on EHS performance to senior management. Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with other departments to integrate EHS principles into daily operations. Communicate with external agencies (such as regulatory bodies) as required. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, or related field. Certification in EHS (e.g., NEBOSH, OSHA) is preferred. Proven experience in EHS or a related role, with a strong understanding of safety regulations. Strong communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills. Ability to conduct risk assessments and accident investigations. Knowledge of environmental sustainability practices and regulations. Proficiency in EHS software and reporting tools.
