DATA STORAGE SYSTEMS ENGINEER

• Understand, develop and maintain data storage systems in data centers such as hard disk storage, cluster storage, and cloud storage. • Must have a strong understanding of various data storage technologies including hard disk drives, storage arrays and cloud storage. Also an understanding of the capacity, speed, reliability and security of each type of storage. • Responsible for planning adequate data storage infrastructure to meet the needs of the company or organization. • Need to involve the selection of the right hardware and software as well as the planning of an efficient storage network. • Need to implement the data storage system and involve the installation and configuration of hardware such as storage servers, hard drives and network switches as well as software settings such as data storage management systems. • Should regularly monitor the performance of the data storage system to ensure that everything is running well by involving monitoring the use of storage capacity, data access speed and error rate. • Responsible for performing routine maintenance such as software updates and replacement of broken hardware. • Ensuring the security of stored data includes the application of accurate access control, data encryption, disaster recovery and other security measures to protect data from internal and external threats. • Tasked with dealing with problems related to data storage, ranging from hardware errors to system failures. The ability to analyze problems quickly and find effective solutions is key in this position. • Must be able to plan and implement data storage solutions that can grow in line with needs and involve adding storage capacity or improving existing system performance.
