Job Summary: The Project Director will be responsible for leading, overseeing, and ensuring the successful execution of all aspects of a major mining project from inception through to completion. This role involves strategic planning, team management, resource allocation, and stakeholder engagement. Key Responsibilities: Project Leadership & Strategy: Lead and manage all stages of the mining project lifecycle, including feasibility studies, design, procurement, construction, operations, and closure. Develop and implement detailed project strategies, ensuring alignment with company goals and objectives. Provide overall leadership to the project team, fostering a collaborative and results-driven culture. Ensure project governance, compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements, and adherence to industry best practices. Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including government agencies, local communities, contractors, suppliers, and clients. Act as the main point of contact for stakeholders, providing regular updates and addressing concerns in a proactive manner. Oversee communication and reporting mechanisms to ensure transparency throughout the project's life cycle. Project Planning & Execution: Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope, budget, schedule, resource allocation, risk management, and quality assurance strategies. Monitor and track project progress, ensuring milestones and deadlines are met. Identify potential risks to project timelines, costs, or quality, and implement corrective actions as needed. Oversee procurement and contracting for all materials, services, and equipment required for the project. Financial Management: Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring financial control and cost efficiency. Review and approve project-related expenditures and ensure financial reporting is accurate and up to date. Ensure that the project operates within the allocated budget, mitigating cost overruns and maximizing profitability. Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance: Champion a culture of safety and environmental responsibility across all aspects of the project. Ensure compliance with local, national, and international health, safety, and environmental regulations and standards. Oversee the development and implementation of safety protocols, risk assessments, and emergency procedures. Team Development & Management: Lead a multidisciplinary team of professionals, including engineers, geologists, environmental specialists, and administrative personnel. Provide mentorship and career development opportunities for team members. Resolve conflicts, promote teamwork, and ensure high levels of employee engagement and performance. Reporting & Documentation: Provide regular progress reports to senior management and stakeholders, highlighting key achievements, risks, and mitigations. Ensure all project documentation is accurate, up-to-date, and easily accessible. Oversee the preparation of final project reports, including financial audits, environmental assessments, and post-project reviews.
