Position Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and experienced science Teacher who is passionate about fostering a love for mathematics in students. The ideal candidate will deliver high-quality instruction in both the Middle Years Programme (MYP) and high school levels, promoting critical thinking, problem-solving, and real-world application of science concepts. The role requires a collaborative approach to teaching and a commitment to the principles of the International Baccalaureate (IB). Responsibilities: Teaching and Learning Teach science courses across both the IB MYP (grades 6-10) and high school levels, focusing on inquiry-based and student-centered learning approaches. Develop and implement lesson plans that adhere to the IB curriculum framework, incorporating real-world applications to enhance students’ understanding of mathematical concepts. Utilize a range of teaching strategies to cater to diverse learning styles and abilities, ensuring each student is supported and challenged. Curriculum Development Collaborate with colleagues to design and refine curriculum materials that align with IB standards and best practices. Participate in interdisciplinary planning and integrate cross-curricular links where appropriate. Stay current with updates to the IB MYP and Diploma Programme (DP) mathematics curriculum, ensuring all course content meets IB guidelines. Assessment and Feedback Design and administer formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress. Provide timely and constructive feedback to help students improve their mathematical skills and prepare for internal and external assessments. Record and analyze assessment data to inform instructional strategies and support student achievement. Student Support and Mentorship Serve as a mentor to students, providing guidance on academic and personal development. Assist students with projects, such as the MYP Personal Project or DP Internal Assessments, fostering independent research and critical thinking. Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress and areas for improvement. Professional Development and Collaboration Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities, including IB-specific training sessions. Engage in regular meetings with the math department and other staff to share best practices and develop innovative teaching methods. Contribute to the school community by participating in extracurricular activities, school events, and collaborative projects. Additional Duties All contracted teachers are required to: Supervise at least one after-school sport, club, or activity. Chaperone one after-school event (e.g., prom, school socials). Assist with school day duties, such as break and lunchtime supervision.
