Duties & Responsibilities: English Teacher School Overview: Mont’Kiara International School (M’KIS) is an IB Continuum School that offers IB programs at all levels, supported by American curriculum standards. The school is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive environment that promotes curiosity, personal growth, and responsible global citizenship through inquiry-based and student-centered learning. Position Summary: We are seeking a passionate English Teacher to deliver engaging lessons in line with the IB curriculum. The role involves guiding students through critical analysis of both literary and non-literary texts, fostering a love for reading, writing, and discussion. You will help students develop analytical and communication skills essential for their IB assessments. Responsibilities: Teaching and Learning Deliver the IB English Language and Literature Lead class discussions on diverse texts, genres, and global themes. Prepare students for IB assessments and essays. Use inquiry-based learning strategies to encourage student engagement and critical thinking. Curriculum Planning Design lesson plans and assessments aligned with IB standards. Work with colleagues to enhance cross-curricular connections. Adapt teaching strategies to meet the needs of diverse learners. Student Assessment and Support Provide regular, constructive feedback on student work. Track and report on student progress. Mentor students on their Extended Essays and other projects. Professional Development and Collaboration Participate in professional development sessions, including IB training. Engage in collaborative planning with other teachers to share best practices. Stay updated on IB curriculum changes and new teaching methods. Community Engagement Maintain open communication with parents about student progress. Participate in extracurricular activities to support student learning outside the classroom. Additional Duties All contracted teachers are required to: Supervise at least one after-school sport, club, or activity. Chaperone one after-school event (e.g., prom, school socials). Assist with school day duties, such as break and lunchtime supervision.
