Collect cuttings samples, from the proper lagged depths and at the proper intervals as required by the Client for evaluation. Wash and screen samples, divide them into correct portions, and pack them by sets for the Client, partners and trade. Always use the correct type of marker pen for each label and ensure labels cannot be damaged by seepage of mud fluids etc. Assist in keeping track and recording of samples that have been caught and transported. Assist in monitoring and reporting the presence of cavings and their magnitude to senior mud logging personnel. General Operations Excellence Logging personnel are required to provide continual, 24hr cover, ensure that the mud logging unit is occupied and fully operational at ALL times. Acceptable breaks, of short duration, include sample catching, emergency repairs, lunch, data gathering/reporting etc. The Client and Drillers should be informed of extended periods away from the unit, for equipment servicing / repair, may be required. Always record the details of these events (names, dates, times, etc., when such a request was made) in the unit diary for audit trail purposes. Aid in keeping the mud logging unit clean, neat and tidy at all times. Assist the Mud Logging Crew to perform regular and frequent calibration checks of instruments. Assist the Mud Logging Crew to perform normal routine maintenance of sensors and other equipment. Assist the Mud Logging Crew during rig-up and rig-down operations. Be aware of safety regulations and procedures as specified by the Client, Excellence Logging, and relevant safety authorities; respect safety regulations in all circumstances. Assist in completing Accident / Near Miss investigations as required. Recommend improvements to the Safety Policies and Procedures especially when accidents or near misses show an evident necessity. Ensure that you have and use all necessary Personal Protective Equipment (safety boots, gloves, hardhats, etc.). Assist in ensuring that all safety equipment in the mud logging unit is kept in good condition.
