Job Description:

  • The IT Data Center Migration SME will be responsible for leading technical data center migration projects, providing deep expertise in systems architecture, networking, and cloud technologies. The ideal candidate will work closely with engineering teams, IT leadership, and external vendors to develop migration plans, oversee execution, and ensure that all technical aspects align with best practices and organizational objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical Leadership: Provide expert guidance on data center migration strategies, including physical-to-virtual (P2V), virtual-to-virtual (V2V), and cloud migrations, ensuring alignment with industry standards.
  • Architecture Design: Design and validate architectures for both on-premises and cloud environments, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security throughout the migration process.
  • Migration Planning: Develop detailed migration plans, including timelines, resource allocation, and rollback procedures, while considering dependencies and potential impacts on operations.
  • Infrastructure Assessment: Conduct thorough assessments of existing data center infrastructure, including servers, storage, networking, and applications, to identify migration requirements and challenges.
  • Performance Optimization: Analyze and optimize data center performance during and after migration, employing monitoring tools and techniques to ensure operational excellence.
  • Risk Management: Identify technical risks and develop comprehensive mitigation strategies to minimize disruption and data loss during the migration process.
  • Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with system architects, network engineers, and application owners to ensure that all technical aspects of the migration are covered and that stakeholders are aligned.
  • Documentation and Compliance: Maintain thorough documentation of migration processes, architectures, and compliance requirements, ensuring adherence to regulatory and security standards.
  • Post-Migration Support: Provide support and troubleshooting for migrated systems, ensuring that any issues are resolved quickly and efficiently.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; advanced degrees and relevant certifications (e.g., Data Center advanced certifications, Solution Architecture, PMP) are highly desirable.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in IT infrastructure, with significant focus on data center operations, migration projects, and cloud technologies.
  • Technical Proficiency: Deep understanding of virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V), storage solutions (SAN/NAS), networking protocols, and cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Scripting and Automation: Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, PowerShell, Bash) to automate migration processes and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Project Management Skills: Strong project management capabilities, with experience using methodologies such as Agile or Waterfall; certifications such as PMP are a plus.
  • Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with a proven track record of managing complex technical projects.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information to diverse audiences.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: RM10,000.00 - RM15,000.00 per month
