Introduction:
We are seeking a highly experienced and dedicated Material Recovery Facility (MRF) Supervisor to join our team at the Integrated Solid Waste Management Center (ISWMC) in Penang, Malaysia. This position is critical to the operation of our MRF, which is a key component of the waste management process. The MRF Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing all MRF operations, ensuring the efficient recovery of recyclable materials, maintaining the operational and safety standards, and ensuring high-quality output that meets specifications for organic sludge and recovered materials.
Key Responsibilities:
1. MRF Operations Supervision
The MRF Supervisor will oversee and manage all day-to-day operations of the Material Recovery Facility, ensuring the smooth, safe, and efficient recovery of recyclables and the management of waste materials:
- Supervise the recovery of organic sludge and recyclable materials to meet specified targets. Ensure that the MRF operates within the required specifications for the recovery of high-value recyclables, including metals, plastics, and paper.
- Ensure effective separation of metals and inorganic waste using the MRF’s sorting technologies, including trommels, air separators, magnetic separators, conveyor systems, grapplers, and macerators.
- Ensure that the facility achieves above 97% equipment operation and availability, minimizing downtime and ensuring that equipment is maintained and optimized to achieve maximum throughput.
- Maintain fluid material flow through the facility by ensuring efficient bunker availability and managing lorry movements within the MRF to avoid bottlenecks and maintain optimal production rates.
- Develop, maintain, and ensure adherence to SOPs for the operation, maintenance, and safety of MRF equipment and processes. Regularly review and update the procedures to reflect best practices and regulatory changes.
· The Supervisor will be responsible for managing the workforce, including local and foreign labor, ensuring that all staff are properly trained and motivated to meet operational targets.
- Identify and implement improvements to operational processes, including optimizing resource utilization, reducing downtime, and improving throughput.
- Maintain accurate records of all operational activities, including production volumes, equipment performance, maintenance logs, and staff attendance.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Diploma, TVET, or Vocational Certificate in a related field such as environmental management, waste management, or industrial operations.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in MRF operations, waste management, or a related field. Experience with the operation and maintenance of MRF equipment such as trommels, air separators, conveyors, and grapplers is highly desirable.
- Strong documentation and reporting skills, with a focus on accuracy and compliance. Ability to prepare detailed reports and manage records efficiently.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify inefficiencies and implement continuous improvements.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and Bahasa Malaysia.
