The Line Design Engineer plays a pivotal role in designing and developing transmission lines and related infrastructure for power distribution and telecommunication projects. This position involves detailed engineering, optimization of designs for cost-effectiveness and reliability, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and project specifications. Responsibilities: - Transmission Line Design Develop and design overhead and underground transmission lines, including conductor sizing, pole/tower structures, and foundations. Perform calculations for mechanical loading, electrical clearances, and thermal performance. Create detailed design drawings, plans, and specifications using CAD and other design tools. - Survey and Site Assessment Conduct or analyze topographical surveys, geotechnical data, and environmental impact assessments to determine optimal line routes. Collaborate with survey teams to identify potential challenges and propose solutions. - Technical Analysis and Optimization Evaluate alternative designs to optimize project costs, material use, and reliability. Analyze structural loads, conductor sag, and tension using industry-standard software. - Compliance and Standards Ensure designs comply with industry standards (e.g., IEC, IEEE, or regional codes) and client specifications. Perform risk assessments to ensure the safety and reliability of designs. - Collaboration and Coordination Work closely with project managers, construction teams, and other stakeholders to integrate designs into project execution. Provide technical support and expertise during installation and commissioning phases. - Documentation and Reporting Prepare design reports, technical specifications, and material take-offs. Maintain accurate records of design changes and updates throughout the project lifecycle. - Innovation and Continuous Improvement Research and adopt new technologies, tools, and materials to enhance design efficiency and project outcomes.
