Position: Purchasing Intern
Location: Al Mathaam Syed Sdn Bhd
Duration: 3-6 months
Reports To: General Manager

Job Summary:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Purchasing Intern to join our team. This internship is designed to provide hands-on experience in purchasing, inventory management, and vendor relations within the restaurant industry. The intern will assist in sourcing high-quality ingredients and supplies, managing inventory, and maintaining relationships with vendors to support restaurant operations. Additionally, the intern may assist in procuring materials for our signature biryani paste product.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in sourcing and purchasing ingredients, equipment, and supplies for the restaurant.
  • Support inventory management, including tracking stock levels and conducting regular audits.
  • Research and evaluate potential suppliers to ensure quality, pricing, and reliability.
  • Assist in negotiating contracts and pricing agreements with vendors.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing records and documentation.
  • Monitor and track deliveries to ensure timely arrival of supplies.
  • Collaborate with the kitchen and sales teams to understand purchasing requirements.
  • Assist in procuring materials for the production and packaging of Mathaam Restaurant’s signature biryani paste.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety standards and quality control measures.
  • Generate reports on purchasing activities and provide updates to management.

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Hospitality, or a related field.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Passion for the restaurant and hospitality industry.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexible schedule, including availability for evenings and weekends, if required.
