The Income Auditor is responsible for verifying and auditing all revenue transactions to ensure the accuracy of financial records and compliance with hotel policies and procedures. This role involves reviewing daily revenue reports, reconciling discrepancies, and preparing financial statements to support the overall financial health of the hotel.
Key Responsibilities:
Revenue Audit and Verification:
- Audit and verify all revenue transactions, including room charges, food and beverage sales, and other hotel services.
- Ensure that all revenue is accurately recorded and reported in the hotel's financial system.
Daily Revenue Reporting:
- Prepare daily revenue reports, including a summary of total revenue, departmental revenue, and any adjustments.
- Reconcile daily revenue with the cash, credit card transactions, and other forms of payment received.
Discrepancy Investigation:
- Identify, investigate, and resolve discrepancies in revenue transactions.
- Work closely with front office, food and beverage, and other departments to rectify any inconsistencies.
Financial Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with hotel policies, procedures, and internal controls related to revenue and financial reporting.
- Assist in maintaining and updating standard operating procedures for revenue management.
Month-End Closing:
- Assist in the month-end closing process by preparing revenue-related journal entries and reconciliations.
- Ensure all revenue figures are accurately reflected in the financial statements.
Internal and External Audits:
- Prepare and provide necessary documentation and reports for internal and external audits.
- Assist auditors with any revenue-related queries and provide explanations as needed.
Data Analysis and Reporting:
- Analyze revenue data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
- Prepare regular and ad-hoc reports for management to support decision-making.
Systems and Technology:
- Ensure that the hotel’s Property Management System (PMS) and Point of Sale (POS) systems are properly configured to capture all revenue.
- Stay updated on software changes and enhancements to improve the revenue auditing process.
Training and Development:
- Train and support other hotel staff on revenue-related policies and procedures.
- Continuously seek to improve personal skills and knowledge relevant to the role.
