DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Purpose of Role: The Junior Mine Geologist supports the geological team in the collection, analysis, and interpretation of geological data to ensure efficient and safe mining operations. This role involves fieldwork, data management, and collaboration with other departments to optimize resource extraction.
Key Responsibilities:
· Assist in the collection and analysis of geological samples, including rock, soil, and core samples.
· Conduct geological mapping and logging of drill cores.
· Perform geotechnical logging and sampling, ensuring proper sampling protocols are implemented.
· Monitor and document daily mining activities and geological conditions.
· Update and maintain geological databases and records.
· Assist in the preparation of geological reports and presentations.
· Collaborate with mining engineers and other team members to ensure accurate geological information is used in mine planning.
· Conduct field checks of drill hole locations, orientation, and safety requirements.
· Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Qualifications & Requirements:
· Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Earth Sciences, or a related field.
· 0-2 years of experience in a mining or geological setting (entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply).
· Basic knowledge of geological and geotechnical principles.
· Proficiency in geological software and database management systems.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
· Willingness to work in remote locations and under varying weather conditions.
· Valid driver’s license and ability to pass pre-employment screenings.
Preferred Skills:
· Knowledge of Geological principles and Geological Processes
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
· Working knowledge of 3D technical software such as Arc gis map, Global Mapper, Micromine will be advantageous.
· Strong safety awareness in mine site
· Wiling to relocate based on project requirement
· Able to work under pressure to meet dead line and interaction with foreigner.
· Able to identified various rock type, alteration, structure in the field, iron & copper mineral (mandatory) as well as another economic mineral such as tin,REE, etc is an advantages.
· Familiar with JORC code system will be advantageous.
Job Type: Contract
Contract length: 12 months
Pay: RM3,000.00 - RM5,000.00 per month
