Job Overview
Astra Academy is looking for enthusiastic and experienced English as a Second Language (ESL) tutors to join our growing team. This part-time position offers flexible working hours, making it ideal for professionals who value adaptability in their schedules. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality, personalized language instruction to students of diverse backgrounds, focusing on improving their reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver Engaging Lessons:
- Plan and conduct interactive ESL lessons tailored to the Cambridge curriculum or equivalent international standards.
- Use diverse teaching methods and materials to address students’ unique learning needs.
- Assess Student Progress:
- Regularly evaluate student performance through assessments, quizzes, and class participation.
- Provide detailed feedback to students and parents to support their learning goals.
- Create a Supportive Environment:
- Establish a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere that encourages active participation.
- Build strong rapport with students to enhance their confidence in using English.
- Collaborate with the Academic Team:
- Communicate effectively with the academy’s academic coordinators to ensure consistency in lesson planning and delivery.
- Share ideas and strategies for continuous improvement in teaching methodologies.
- Administrative Duties:
- Maintain accurate records of attendance and progress reports.
- Notify the academic team of any challenges or concerns related to student performance.
Qualifications and Experience
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of ESL teaching or tutoring experience, preferably in an International School or similar setting.
- Education: A degree in Education, English, Linguistics, or a related field. TEFL, TESOL, or CELTA certification is a strong advantage.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with the Cambridge curriculum or experience teaching international students is preferred.
- Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Strong classroom management and the ability to adapt teaching methods to different learning styles.
- Proficiency in integrating technology into teaching is a plus.
Working Hours
- Part-time position with flexible scheduling in the morning or evening, accommodating the tutor’s availability.
- Tutors must be available for a minimum of 6 - 12 hours per week.
