Role Overview & Primary Accountabilities:

  • Support the Associate Director Environment & Energy with the relationship with Segment Supply Chain VPs and Mill leaders to establish and align on annual and SBP period energy, climate, water, waste and environmental compliance KPI’s.

  • Provide leadership and on-site support for EHS audits to ensure a comprehensive and accurate execution and follow-up action details to address each Critical and Major findings. This includes establishing and maintaining processes for continuous monitoring of E&E performance and improvement.

  • Actively participate in the execution of E&E efficiency projects developed through the Advanced Analytics programs driven centrally by the Director of Plant E&E Technologies

  • Analyze environmental and sustainability data to identify areas for improvement, informing problem-solving processes and recommending effective solutions.

  • Collaborate with operational leaders and external stakeholders to integrate environmental and sustainability initiatives effectively by adopting and implementing site-specific environmental and sustainability strategies, initiatives, and programs aligned with Segment and Global objectives. Utilize Sphera to capture all E&E related data.

  • Supporting technical evaluations of the effectiveness of environmental, energy, and sustainability systems and processes, ensuring compliance with local, national regulations, and relevant Global Performance Standards.

  • Stay informed about industry best practices, new technologies, new more sustainable materials and integrate them into sub-Segment environmental and sustainability efforts and activities.

  • Collaborate with Segment and Global logistics teams to recommend optimization of transport systems, focusing on truck fill efficiency, network optimization, and the use of alternative fuels.

  • Provide input and advise on external sustainability communications, including commercial sustainability claims and feedback from customers and consumers. Ensure accurate Sustainability/ESG reporting and engage with external stakeholders to inform on relevant sustainability topics.

Essential Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, environmental management, sustainability, or related science/engineering field.

  • At least 10 years of experience working in related roles with environment, regulatory and sustainability responsibilities for a global, multi-site tissue or paper manufacturing organization.

  • Specialized expertise in relevant topics such as environmental, energy, or sustainability.

  • Previous experience with a multinational operations.

  • Strong digital capabilities (e.g., data management, analytics, workflow management).

  • Familiarity/experience with deployment of ISO management systems, including ISO 14001.
