ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR IN DEPARTMENT OF PROSTHETIC DENTISTRY Qualifications & Experience: • Master’s degree in Prosthetic Dentistry. PhD and/or any added qualification would be an advantage. • Qualifications should registrable with the Malaysian Dental Council (https://mdc.moh.gov.my/ ) • Minimum 8> years academic experience. • Relevant teaching, research and publications experience. JOB DESCRIPTION OF PROSTHODONTIST 1. Reports to the HOD/Person in charge (PIC) of the Specialist Dental clinic/Dean of Penang International Dental College. 2. Shall examine and diagnose disabilities caused by loss of teeth and supporting structures; formulates and executes treatment plans for construction of corrective prostheses. 3. Shall examine patients to determine requirement and type of dental prosthesis. 4. Shall perform Analysis of jaw relationships and movement and formulates required treatment plan. 5.Shall construct removable, fixed, and maxillofacial prosthodontic restorations. 6.Shall provide consultation services and direct the Prosthodontic service. 7. Assist the HOD to formulate and implement procedures governing the operation of the prosthodontic service including dental laboratory. 8. Assist the HOD to determine personnel, equipment, material, and facility requirements for the operation of the prosthodontic service. 9. Assist the HOD to plan work assignments for prosthodontists, clinical assistants, and laboratory technicians for treating patients and constructing prosthodontic restorations. 10. Attend faculty and management meetings whenever required to do so. 11. Assist the HOD to ensure the delivery of quality dental care to all patients by attending to them promptly, efficiently and professionally. 12. Assist the HOD to coordinate prosthodontic service with other dental specialities and medical services. 13. Instruct students and guide them in various clinical activities concerned with removable (removable partial , complete denture)&fixed prosthodontic work 14. Instruct junior lecturers, technical assistants, and laboratory technicians in prosthodontic procedures and techniques. 15. Ensure the delivery of quality dental care to all patients by attending to them promptly, efficiently and professionally. 16. Submit returns of work load to the HOD. 17. Assist the HOD for the continuous training of dental surgery assistants, clinical assistants and attendants from time to time. 18. Attend to patients’ verbal and written complaints and take appropriate action. 19. Shall carry out any other duties and responsibilities as assigned by superior officers in the organisation.
