Job Summary

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a special educational needs register.
  • Put provision in place to ensure that progress of students with special educational needs improves relative to those without special educational needs.
  • Support all students with special educational needs.
  • Support all staff in understanding the needs of students with special educational needs and this includes regular training as well.
  • Support departmental development of special educational needs provision.
  • Monitor progress towards targets for pupils with special educational needs.
  • Liaise with staff, parents, external agencies and other schools to co-ordinate their contribution, provide maximum support and ensure continuity of provision.
  • Promote inclusion best practices and contribute to the aims and ethos of the school through membership of the senior leadership team and where possible, attendance at school events.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of provision.

Teaching and Learning

  • Support the identification of and disseminate the most effective teaching approaches for individual students with special educational needs.
  • Work with staff to develop effective ways of bridging barriers to learning through: assessment of needs, monitoring of teaching quality and student achievement, target setting (IEPs or Provision Maps), keeping accurate records
  • Collect and interpret specialist assessment data to inform practice.
  • Undertake day to day co-ordination of special educational needs students’ provisions through close liaison with staff, parents and external agencies.
  • Work with principals, key stage coordinators, teachers and pastoral staff to ensure all students learning is of equal importance and that there are high and realistic expectations of students.
  • Co-ordinate all Annual Reviews and reviews of Individual Education Plans (IEPs)where appropriate and attend/chair meetings when necessary.

Job Requirements

  • Hold a good Honours Degree in Psychology, Special Education, OccupationalTherapy, Speech and Language Pathology or related fields.
  • Hold a UK-recognised teaching qualification (PGCE or similar).
  • A minimum of 2 years of working experience with children with Special Needs.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • The ability to teach an additional subject would be an advantage.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: RM2,500.00 - RM3,500.00 per month

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday
