Technical Designer ( Full time/Part time)
Job Summary:
The Technical Designer is responsible for providing technical expertise and support to the interior design team throughout the project lifecycle. Collaborating closely with interior designers, architects, contractors, and vendors, the Technical Designer ensures that design concepts are translated into practical, functional, and aesthetically pleasing interior spaces. They are proficient in architectural drafting, construction documentation, building codes, and specifications to ensure that projects are completed successfully within budget and schedule.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Support:
- Collaborate with interior designers and architects to develop technical solutions for design concepts.
- Provide expertise in architectural drafting, including floor plans, elevations, sections, and details.
- Prepare construction documentation, including drawings, schedules, and specifications.
- Review and evaluate design drawings for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with building codes and regulations.
- Conduct site visits to assess project requirements and conditions.
- Material and Product Selection:
- Research and recommend materials, finishes, and products suitable for interior spaces.
- Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to obtain samples, specifications, and pricing.
- Evaluate product performance, durability, and sustainability considerations.
- Project Coordination:
- Liaise with contractors, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders to ensure coordination and integration of technical requirements.
- Participate in project meetings to communicate technical details and resolve design-related issues.
- Monitor project progress and provide technical support during construction and installation phases.
- Quality Assurance:
- Conduct quality control checks to ensure that design specifications are met during construction.
- Address technical issues and resolve conflicts that may arise during the project lifecycle.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, building codes, and regulations.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation, including drawings, specifications, and correspondence.
- Prepare technical reports, presentations, and documentation as required.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Minimum 5 year working experience
- Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or related field.
- Proven experience as a Technical Designer or similar role in the interior design industry.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, or similar drafting and modeling software.
- Strong knowledge of building codes, regulations, and construction practices.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Working Conditions:
The Technical Designer typically works in an office environment but may also visit project sites for inspections and meetings. The role may involve occasional travel and requires flexibility to accommodate project deadlines and schedules.
