Job description
Role and Responsibilities:
- Curriculum Development: Design and develop a comprehensive social science curriculum, covering a range of topics such as history, geography, and global perspective.
- Instruction: Deliver engaging and interactive social science lessons that introduce students to key concepts, theories, and global issues.
- Practical Applications: Incorporate project-based learning into the curriculum, where students apply social science concepts to real-world scenarios. This may include analyzing current events, conducting case studies and exploring social issues.
- Technology Integration: Demonstrate how technology can be integrated into the social science classroom to enhance understanding.
- Digital Literacy: Teach students how to use digital tools responsibly within the context of social science.
- Assessment and Grading: Evaluate students' understanding and performance through assessments, essays, projects, quizzes, and assignments. Provide constructive feedback and assign grades according to established criteria.
- Classroom Management: Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment where students feel comfortable discussing and exploring social science topics, asking questions, and collaborating with peers. Encourage open discussion, critical thinking, and respect for diverse perspectives.
- Professional Development: Stay updated with advancements in social science education, teaching methodologies, and technology.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Science, History, Geography or a related field (required).
- Previous teaching experience in an international school setting is an advantage.
- Strong understanding of social science concepts and the ability to explain complex ideas in an accessible and engaging manner.
- Familiarity with using technology to enhance learning and engagement in social science education, including research tools, data analysis software, and multimedia resources.
- Knowledge of international curricula is preferred.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to foster a critical thinking and inquiry-based learning environment that encourages students to explore and analyze social issues.
- Commitment to professional growth and the ability to integrate new teaching practices, methodologies, and technologies.
