Senior HR Generalist

About the role

We are seeking an experienced and versatile Senior HR Generalist to join the dynamic team at Southern Steel Berhad in our Perai, Penang office. As a full-time Senior HR Generalist, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the overall human resources function and providing strategic HR guidance to the business.

What you'll be doing

• Partnering with business leaders to understand their HR needs and develop tailored solutions
• Providing expert advice and support on a range of HR matters, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, employee relations, compliance, and union relations.
• Strong proficiency with numbers, processing data, and reporting, with the ability to quickly analyze information and generate ad hoc reports that are accurate, timely, and error-free.
• Engaging with union representatives and facilitating productive communication to ensure alignment with union agreements and resolve any union-related matters amicably.
• Oversee foreign worker processes, ensuring compliance with all regulations and providing support for a positive employee experience
• Assisting with the coordination and delivery of HR training and development initiatives.
• Maintaining accurate employee records and ensuring HR data integrity.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement and innovation in HR processes and practices.

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of experience as an Senior HR Generalist or in a similar role, preferably within a manufacturing or industrial environment
• Thorough understanding of HR best practices, labour laws, and regulatory requirements
• Experience in managing union interactions, including knowledge of collective bargaining, handling grievances, and fostering positive labor-management relations.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships at all levels
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with a solutions-oriented mindset
• Proficient in HR information systems and data analysis
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
