Job Overview:

The Associate HSE Engineer is responsible for utilizing existing HSE Engineering procedures to solve routine or standard problems. They receive instruction, guidance, and direction from others within the team, and they will leverage their conceptual knowledge of theories, practices, and procedures related to HSE Engineering and Engineering.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Perform detailed design engineering, analysis, and calculations on basic engineering tasks
  • Apply knowledge and skills to complete routine assignments under close supervision and mentoring
  • Prepare clear and accurate detailed design calculations and analyses, including design reports and procedures
  • Organize own work to meet deadlines set by others
  • Clearly communicate information, asking questions and checking for understanding
  • Gain an understanding of the project scope of work, specifications, schedule, and all inter-discipline
  • Prepare calculations, philosophies, and specifications related to either safety, environmental, or human factors matters
  • Develop loss prevention drawings, such as fire water layouts, fire and gas detection layouts
  • Contribute to MTOs for safety equipment requisitions
  • Keep the Lead Engineer apprised of all activities, progress, and concerns
  • Develop an awareness of costs related to own work

Reports to:
Project: Lead Engineer
Functional: Department Manager
Liaise With: Engineers, Design Supervisors, and Designers of their discipline


Essential Qualifications and Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in Engineering
  • 0-3 years experience in oil and gas
  • Learning the content and application of standards, codes, and guidelines as applicable
  • Learning design techniques and analysis methods
  • Preferably Registered Engineer in Training (EIT) or member of a professional engineering society
