Do you have the heart and compassion to help underprivileged children reach their full potential?

Our Equal Start Learning Centres provide Pre-Primary and Primary education to out-of-school children, offering them a chance to learn, grow, and thrive. We are looking for dedicated Learning Centre Teachers who will play a vital role in shaping the future of these children.

As a Learning Centre Teacher, you will assist students with their studies and manage the daily operations of the Learning Centre. You will report directly to the Equal Start Education Team.

Key Responsibilities

Your duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Leading classes and guiding students through daily lessons.
  • Opening and closing the Learning Centre each school day.
  • Recording daily attendance for students and volunteers.
  • Assisting in the collection of student fees from parents.
  • Developing lesson plans and preparing class materials.
  • Organizing class projects and evaluating student progress.
  • Contributing to program development initiatives.
  • Following all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure health, safety, security, cleanliness, and equipment maintenance.
  • Assigning tasks to volunteers and supervising their activities.
  • Monitoring student progress and periodically uploading data to the web.
  • Managing and distributing learning materials and devices, including collection, storage, and recharging at the end of each day.

Requirements

We’re looking for someone with:

  • A heart to serve the underprivileged.
  • Strong literacy and communication skills in English.
  • Prior teaching experience (preferred but not required) and a willingness to learn.
  • A teachable mindset and adaptability to the Equal Start program.
  • Patience, compassion, and kindness toward children.
  • Classroom management skills.
  • Basic digital literacy (training will be provided).
  • A Diploma or Degree (preferred but not mandatory).

Job Highlights

  • Up to 8 weeks of paid holidays during term breaks.
  • 8 days of annual leave and 8 days of sick leave.
  • Comprehensive training provided.

Location & Working Hours

  • Location: Penang mainland.
  • Working hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 1:30 PM during school terms (30-minute lunch break). The Learning Centre is closed during term breaks and Malaysian public holidays.
