Job Summary:
The Data Center Operator is responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and ensuring the smooth operation of data center systems and infrastructure. This role involves handling server hardware, monitoring network and system performance, addressing incidents, and performing routine maintenance to ensure maximum uptime and efficiency of data center operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- System Monitoring and Maintenance:
- Monitor data center equipment, including servers, storage, network devices, and cooling systems, using monitoring tools.
- Identify and respond to alarms, outages, and performance degradation to ensure minimal downtime.
- Conduct routine inspections of equipment and facilities to maintain operational standards.
- Incident Response and Troubleshooting:
- Respond promptly to system failures, network outages, and other issues affecting data center performance.
- Perform root cause analysis and escalate issues to appropriate teams when necessary.
- Document incidents and resolution steps for reference and reporting purposes.
- Hardware and Infrastructure Management:
- Install, configure, and maintain physical and virtual servers.
- Perform hardware upgrades, replacements, and decommissioning of equipment as needed.
- Manage cabling, power distribution, and rack layouts within the data center.
- Data Backup and Recovery:
- Ensure data backups are performed according to organizational policies.
- Assist in testing and validating disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
- Environmental Control:
- Monitor and maintain optimal environmental conditions, including temperature, humidity, and airflow.
- Coordinate with facility teams to ensure uninterrupted power supply (UPS) and cooling system functionality.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of system configurations, network diagrams, and data center layouts.
- Generate and submit regular performance and incident reports to management.
- Compliance and Security:
- Follow organizational and industry best practices for physical and data security.
- Assist with audits and compliance checks, ensuring adherence to regulations like ISO 27001, SOC 2, or other standards.
Qualifications and Skills:
Required:
- Experience in data center operations or IT infrastructure management.
- Knowledge of server hardware, networking equipment, and storage systems.
- Proficiency in monitoring tools and ticketing systems (e.g., Nagios, SolarWinds, ServiceNow).
- Understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) and operating systems (Windows, Linux).
- Ability to perform basic hardware troubleshooting and repairs.
Preferred:
- Certification in relevant areas, such as CompTIA Server+, Cisco CCNA, or Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator.
- Experience with virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V) and cloud infrastructure.
- Knowledge of automation tools (PowerShell, Python, or Ansible).

Job Type: Contract
Contract length: 12 months
Pay: RM1,584.72 - RM5,000.00 per month
