Data Center Senior Project Manager
What this job involves:
An experienced Data Center Project Managers are being sought, based in Johor Bahru & KL, Malaysia to provide the following services. The resource shall have relevant local experience and expertise to support our Client’s project:
Provide management of Data Centers at single complex/multiple scales in Malaysia. You will be tasked with managing and coordinating the needs of multiple partner teams, while managing changes and maintaining a focus on keeping the project on schedule, budget, quality, and safety,
Manage large scale technical projects in a rapidly changing industry. To assist the delivery of a data center facility from start to commissioning and understand the nuances and risks that will need to be managed in Malaysia
At least 10 years of experience with technical teams project management, engineering, and construction of data centers or mission facilities in Malaysia
At least 10 years of experience with data center equipment/environments (e.g., civil/structural, electrical switchgear, generators, chillers, security monitoring) in Malaysia
Ability to speak and write in Bahasa Malaysia and English fluently
Experience in requirements gathering, resource organization, task prioritization, and scheduling and achieving objectives within set goals
Experience managing vendor relationships and an understanding of standard practices in the design and construction industry as well as pursuit of industry leading practices
Knowledge of fast track design build processes and associated documents and agreements
Understanding of start up/commissioning processes
This position is a technical and leadership role and requires at least 10 years program/project management experience. The Project Manager will lead a team to manage the day-to-day activities of the programme of projects, and be the on-site key point of contact for key stakeholders and/or the Client. Below are main responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be responsible for demonstrating high levels of leadership and be logical and influential with clients and stakeholders. This is an exciting role for a talented individual looking to excel in a project management leadership role. You will have experience of planning and executing multiple activities at different stages of maturity and be the main point of contact for the Client and JLL Accounts team. You will be reporting to the Work Dynamics Account Lead, he/she will be expected to manage the capital budget and delivery of projects and report accordingly.
Be accountable for the management of project stakeholders, administration of The Client needs, interdependencies, risk management, variations and issues for successful project delivery
Diligently understand The Client expectations and ensure timelines are met
Contribute to a positive work environment, by being conscious of others and their needs
Accountable to deliver projects within the agreed parameters i.e., cost, time and quality
Ensure all projects are managed within The Client governance guidelines
Conduct regular management and site meetings in relation to construction-related projects for the data center
Coordinate constructability review of the project documents with stakeholders when required
Coordinate Value Engineering effort when required with all key stakeholders
Assist The Client in identifying, scoping, buying-out and scheduling of all The Client-direct vendors and consultants if assigned
Work with project teams addressing and resolving any design issues/changes to design drawings and provide input to any required changes in design and scope prior to start of construction
Facilitate and ensure tracking of all key project documents, including submittals, RFIs, change orders, etc., are being reviewed, approved and closed with all appropriate The Client stakeholders, AE and General Contractor personnel
Lead the coordination and management of all The Client-direct vendors, and any associated consultants that provide services to The Client, and escalate when there is non-compliant behaviours

Responsibilities:
Provide advice, consultant, and be the authorized representative through site-enablement and pre-construction-related aspects of projects.
Work with internal stakeholders, client teams and third-party consultants and contractors to administer the required works required for pre-construction on behalf of our client.
Coordinate, clarify, and track design activities with Client and Client's third-party contractors.
Experience of utilities applications process
Strong leadership and people management capability - leading teams and vendors directly.
Client-relationship management and with excellent communication skills to keep client, stakeholders and teams informed of program delivery progress, risks, scope changes etc.
Responsible for leading and setting expectations with the client and project delivery teams.
Be accountable for the management of project stakeholders, administration of the Client’s needs, interdependencies, risk management, variations and issues for successful project delivery.
Coordinate Value Engineering effort when required with all key stakeholders.
Work with project teams addressing and resolving any design issues/changes to design drawings and provide input to any required changes in design and scope prior to start of construction.
Support contract negotiation with Client's third party contractors, in alignment with Client's project manager (“PM”) and legal counsel
Education and experience:
What we’re looking for is a technical candidate with at least 10 years’ experience in the field. A post-graduate degree in engineering, construction, project / construction management also a big plus.
You will be experienced in managing multiple parties, vendors, stakeholders and priorities with various milestones.
Fluent in written and spoken English and Bahasa Malaysia
You will be detailed orientated and organized in your approach to project management.
Ability to think, analyse and problem solve in high pressure situations.
Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks to complete within specified deadlines.
