Job Purpose:
- The PU Engineering Manager position is a key leadership role responsible for providing direction, oversight and assurance of all engineering activity & safe capex deployment for the PU
- The role will have a strong reporting relationship to the Global Lubricants Engineering and HSE&C team
Key Accountabilities:
- The position is also responsible for contributing to the development & ensuring implementation and compliance with all Global Engineering Technical Practices (ETPs).
- The position is responsible for developing Site Technical Practices (STPs) to incorporate any local, regional or governmental regulatory requirements.
- The role is responsible for assuring compliance to all relevant bp (IM, HSSE) and regulatory requirements within engineering related activity
- Provide engineering expertise, recommend engineering solutions and develop capital expenditure proposals in support of business requirements
- Ensure oversight & engineering assurance on the execution of all capital projects
- Develop & steward engineering talent within the HUB and Markets
- Assess & assure adequate competency to manage engineering activity in the HUB and Markets
- Identify engineering opportunities to improve operational & safety performance
- Develop process & provide assurance on implementation of ETPs/STPs in the HUB and Markets
- Verify compliance to the IM Standard & to local regulations within engineering activity.
- Active membership of the Lubricants Global Engineering Network
- Contribute to the development of Global ETPs and sharing of best practise
- Works with the supply chain to identify large, strategic, capital and supply chain strategy projects to support Business Partner’s Strategy.
- Act as gatekeeper for all BAU and select strategic capital projects within the HUB through all CVP stages of a project including engineering lean projects.
- Work with Finance, project leaders, Plant managers, CF managers, Maintenance leaders to assure that appropriate project cost analyses and Capex / FM’s are prepared.
- Prepare feeds for GFO’s as related to Capex spend and forecasting detailing the status of projects with respect to costs, schedule and resource issues within the HUB and Markets.
- Exercise accountabilities under the IM Standard as HUB engineer
Key Requirements:
- Bachelor of Engineering (ChE or ME preferred) with Process engineering experience, Project management and construction management expertise. Ability to Lead, coach, mentor, and manage performance through expectation setting and appropriate progress management via key performance indicators for project life cycle.
- A strong commitment to HSSE and engineering excellence with a minimum of 10 years plus engineering experience involving both project engineering and operations of which 5 - 7 years of the expertise has been in Process or Project Engineering
