Staff Nurse for Bone Marrow Transplant (BH 2)
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Responsible for preparation of patients for Hematopoietic Stem Cell (HSC) transplantation, cellular therapies, and long-term management of patients’ post-treatment.
· Assist all aspects of transplant care, including coordinating apheresis and bone marrow collection procedures.
· Assist in stem cell harvest / stem cell collections and transplant admissions with Blood Bank, Stem Cell Lab.
· Assist in Hematology related procedure.
· Observe strict sterility technique in accordance with Infection Control procedure manual.
· Coordinates with Stem Cell Lab the timely shipment.
· Provide safe and efficient nursing care in inpatient unit in order to achieve positive care outcomes.
· Plan, implement and evaluate total care to ensure continuity of patient care according to individual needs to regain and sustain optimal health status.
· Rounds with the inpatient-attending physician and serves as a liaison.
· Maintain custody of controlled drugs, including regular check, administration and recording.
· Works with the interdisciplinary team throughout the continuity of oncology care to facilitate understanding of treatment modalities, diagnostic testing and treatment.
· Promote harmonious and effective work relationships within the unit and with the medical and auxiliary staff in coordinating patient total needs.
· Assist with discharge planning of all patients and arrange clinic follow-ups. Assures that appropriate discharge information is communicated to the clinic staff, patient and families / caregivers
· Educate patients and families / caregivers regarding all aspects of transplantation / cellular therapy and serve as their advocate.
· Monitors patient outcomes and participates in quality improvement activities.
· Collaborate with other team members in maintaining standardized treatment / admission orders and patient care protocols.
· Adhere to current practices in transplantation / cellular therapy, oncology and hematology, according to SOPs, workflows, guidelines, etc.
· Contributes to the development of clinical guidelines, policies and procedures related to roles.
· Check crash cart to ensure all drugs and equipment are in place and available at all times.
· Perform stock check to ensure sufficient medical supplies in the department.
· Liaise with auxiliary services e.g. maintenance, housekeeping, dietary units for any changes.
· Check and ensure all equipment are in working order.
· Ensure self-growth and development by participating inservice training and programs to achieve sufficient CPD point for APC renewal.
Performs others duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Diploma / Degree in Nursing
- Post basic in Hematology / Oncology
- Valid APC / RON
· Minimum 3 years relevant experience
· Able to provide high quality patient care and customer service
- Willing to learn
Working Hours:
Rotation Shift Hours (4days work, 3days off)
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: RM3,000.00 - RM5,000.00 per month
