JOB DESCRIPTION

Title: Agronomist

Brief:

A farm is all about the quality of produce it can grow. An experienced and committed agronomist is central to ensuring this. Your role will be to ensure consistent, high quality and high yielding production. As an agronomist in a high-tech farm, you will also be pivotal in pushing the boundaries on adopting new technology and innovation in agronomy and plant science. You will directly report into the CEO. Remember, in your hands will be the heart of the farm – without you, there is no farm.

Job Description:

•

Overall planning and management of crop production

•

Ensuring high quality, consistent and highly productive crops

•

Ensure consistency of production through meticulous planning and attention to detail

•

Create and manage crop nutrition and adapt them to enable high quality produce

•

Manage tasks and main high productivity among farm workers

•

Monitor/maintain growth of crops and farming equipment

•

Create an Integrated Quality Management program (IQM) that includes crop inspection and implementing interventions as required

•

Lead and manage trials using new technology / protocols for growing

•

Develop SOPs, protocols and ensure up-to-date production records

•

Mentor and train the next generation of junior grower and delegate wisely

•

Liaise with equipment vendors to troubleshoot any issues / loss of performance

•

Your tasks will also entail designing, evaluating, and integrating automation solutions into current systems to automate various farm operations.

This role gives you the opportunity to improve processes, integrate new systems and project management

When required, perform other roles in the farm as necessary

What we’re looking for:

•

A passionate, high energy candidate with the hunger for learning and fast growth

•

10 years of experience as a grower in a hydroponic farm growing leafy greens and herbs

• Experience with MGS and/or NFT systems in a commercial setting at scale

•

Strong ethics and personal value system that is consistent with the company’s belief in the importance of fresh and nutritious food

•

Ability to be self-disciplined and maintain a high standard for quality

• Strong ability to analyse and develop solutions to ensure consistently good quality, high yielding production

•

Educational qualification in agronomy or plant science

•

Ability to lead a team, put your hand up for a challenge and be open to contributing to other aspects of the business as relevant
