Department: Clinical Department (FAMILY MEDICARE SDN BHD) Reports to: Clinical Manager Job Summary: The Staff Nurse is responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to patients undergoing hemodialysis treatment. This includes assessing the patients' overall health condition, monitoring vital signs, educating patients about their health conditions, and managing the dialysis process. The role requires close collaboration with the dialysis team, quick decision-making during emergencies, and ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout the procedure. Key Responsibilities: Patient Assessment and Communication: o Regularly talk with patients to understand their overall condition and monitor any changes or concerns regarding their health. o Assess patient needs and respond to any changes in their condition promptly, ensuring the necessary interventions are applied. o Educate patients and their families about their health conditions and available treatment options, ensuring they understand the dialysis process and lifestyle adjustments. Vital Signs and Monitoring: o Monitor and record vital signs before, during, and after dialysis treatments. o Observe patients closely during the entire hemodialysis procedure, adjusting treatment as necessary and ensuring patient comfort. Dialysis Procedure Management: o Oversee the entire hemodialysis process, ensuring proper machine settings and patient preparation. o Ensure that all necessary equipment and medications are properly administered and that patients are comfortable throughout the treatment. o Take action to prevent or manage complications that may arise during dialysis, such as hypotension, bleeding, or infection. Medication Management: o Ensure patients take prescribed medications according to the doctors’ orders and monitor for any side effects or reactions. Team Collaboration: o Work closely with the dialysis team, including nephrologists, dietitians, social workers, and other medical staff, to ensure holistic and effective patient care. o Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient care plans, share observations, and contribute to treatment decisions. Emergency Response and Decision Making: o Respond promptly and effectively to emergency situations during dialysis, making quick decisions to ensure patient safety and appropriate action. Clinical Knowledge and Application: o Maintain in-depth knowledge of the various methods and techniques used in dialysis, including hemodialysis procedures, dialysis machine operation, and patient care protocols. Patient Education: o Provide ongoing education to patients regarding self-care, diet, fluid management, and other aspects of managing their kidney condition. Dialysis Department Coverage: o Maintain responsibility for ensuring adequate coverage for the dialysis department, ensuring there is no interruption to patient care during shifts or emergencies. Qualifications: Education: o Diploma in Nursing or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing o Valid and active nursing license (APC or equivalent) as per local regulatory requirements. Experience: o Fresh graduates with a strong interest in developing and specializing in renal care are encouraged to apply.
