Job Description: Manager (Operations) Position Overview: Responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the daily operations within the steel pipe manufacturing plant. This includes ensuring the plant runs efficiently and safely while meeting production targets, maintaining product quality, managing workforce resources, and overseeing compliance with industry standards. Work closely with other departments, including production, logistics, quality assurance, and maintenance, to drive continuous improvement initiatives and maximize plant productivity. Key Responsibilities: 1. Operations Management: o Supervise daily operations of the steel pipe manufacturing plant, ensuring all processes are executed according to established procedures. o Optimize production processes, identify inefficiencies, and implement corrective actions to improve productivity. o Monitor production schedules and adjust them to ensure timely delivery of orders. o Oversee resource allocation, including manpower, equipment, and materials, to meet production requirements. 2. Staff Management and Leadership: o Lead and manage a team of production supervisors, operators, and support staff. o Provide training, coaching, and development opportunities to enhance team skills and performance. o Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to employees. o Foster a collaborative, motivated, and safety-conscious work environment. 3. Quality Control and Compliance: o Ensure production meets established quality standards by implementing quality control measures throughout the manufacturing process. o Oversee the inspection of raw materials, in-process production, and finished goods to maintain product quality. o Ensure the plant complies with all relevant safety, health, environmental, and industry regulations. o Ensure adherence to environmental and sustainability practices in the manufacturing process. 4. Budgeting and Cost Control: o Develop and manage the plant’s operational budget, ensuring cost-effectiveness without compromising quality. o Implement cost-reduction strategies and track expenses to ensure operations stay within budget. o Monitor energy consumption, waste reduction, and other cost-related factors to optimize plant efficiency. 5. Safety and Risk Management: o Promote and enforce strict adherence to safety protocols and procedures to reduce accidents and injuries. o Identify safety hazards and take proactive steps to mitigate risk and ensure a safe working environment. o Conduct safety audits and prepare reports on plant safety performance. 6. Reporting and Analysis: o Prepare and submit regular operational performance reports to senior management, including KPIs, production statistics, and maintenance updates. o Analyze operational data and implement strategies to optimize plant performance and throughput. 7. Maintenance and Equipment Management: o Coordinate with the maintenance team to ensure timely and effective maintenance of plant machinery and equipment. o Ensure machinery downtime is minimized by developing and executing preventive maintenance programs. Qualifications: • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Management, or a related field. • 5 years of experience in operations management, preferably in a manufacturing environment (experience in steel manufacturing is a plus). • Strong leadership and team management skills. • In-depth knowledge of production processes, quality control, and manufacturing operations. • Familiarity with safety regulations and compliance standards in manufacturing. • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills. • Proficient in using manufacturing software, ERP systems, and MS Office. Work Environment: This role is based in the steel pipe manufacturing plant, oversee day-to-day activities and ensure the smooth functioning of all departments. The position may require occasional travel and flexibility to work in shifts as needed.
