NETWORK ENGINEER

Location: Kuala Lumpur

Role Purpose

The Network Engineer serves as the subject matter expert in enterprise and vessel network implementation, daily operations, maintenance, and upgrades of network assets. This role will be involved in FPSO projects during the EPCI phases, planning, procuring, and setting up vessel infrastructure, implementing network solutions, and managing the vessel IT delivery package throughout project cycles.

Key Accountabilities

  • Corporate Projects: Upgrade network equipment, enhance network security by applying the lates stable firmware releases, and support local clients and site offices in the Singapore time zone to improve response times for internal and external customers.
  • Cyber Security Support: Coordinate with the global cybersecurity team on cybersecurity projects and issues related specifically to corporate network security.
  • Phone and Video Conference System: Administer, configure, support, and provide training on phone and video conferencing equipment.
  • Life Cycle Management: Oversee the lifecycle of all IT network, communication, and other IT infrastructure assets assigned to their responsibility across the Asia Pacific region.
  • Vessel Projects: Execute vessel IT setup for EPCI projects, including project management, designing vessel IT network configurations, setting up and documenting network infrastructure, enforcing IT networking standards, and managing end-to-end vessel IT setup projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related disciplines.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in designing network architecture and implementing networks.
  • At least 5 years of experience in designing, building, and administering IT network systems, including exposure to CISCO Call Manager and IP telephony, preferably in the oil and gas industry.
  • Technical certifications such as CISCO (CCNA, CCNP, CCIE) are advantageous.

Competencies

  • Strong knowledge or hands-on experience in network security or cybersecurity activities.
  • Proficiency in L1, L2, L3, and L4 methodologies.
  • Expertise in network protocols and technologies such as DHCP, DNS, ARP, NTP, EIGRP, MPLS, BGP, WAN, HSRP, GRE, DMVPN, VLAN, STP, ETHERCHANNEL, CDP, SNMP, LACP, Riverbed, Cisco Wireless Controllers, Cisco Nexus, Cisco Catalyst switches, Cisco SmartNet, and Cisco Smart Licensing.
  • Experience with Cisco Unified Call Manager (CUCM) and AWS is a plus.
  • Strong project management skills with experience managing end-to-end project cycles.
  • Ability to work in a global team environment with strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong self-planning, prioritization, and execution skills, even in low-clarity situations.
  • Willingness to conduct fieldwork, including working at heights, to oversee and execute shipyard installations.
  • Availability to attend meetings at irregular hours due to global stakeholder engagement.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English.
