Job Description for R&D Chemist:

As an R&D Chemist, you will be responsible for conducting research and development activities to create and improve products. You will perform testing on raw materials, collaborate with suppliers and internal teams, troubleshoot product issues, and manage laboratory operations. Your role will involve preparing lab batches, reformulating products based on feedback, and ensuring accurate documentation and laboratory cleanliness.

Primary Roles and Responsibilities:

1. Research and Development (R&D):

• The core responsibility involves conducting research and developing new products or improving existing ones. This includes performing testing on new raw materials to ensure performance and stability, preparing lab batches for customer analysis, and reformulating based on feedback.

Secondary Roles & Responsibilities:

1. Coordination and Liaison:

• Interacting with suppliers to obtain information, staying updated with market trends, and coordinating with marketers and other departments. This also includes providing information to customers, suppliers, government authorities, and internal departments about product development.

2. Troubleshooting and Problem Solving:

• Identifying and resolving product issues and challenges.

Other Areas of Task:

1. Training and Management:

• Assisting in training and managing lab assistants and new chemists as needed.

2. Lab Instrument Calibration:

• Performing calibration of lab instruments to ensure accuracy.

3. Documentation and Filing:

• Completing and systematically filing all related documentation.

4. 5S and Laboratory Maintenance:

• Conducting daily 5S (Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) activities and maintaining the tidiness of the laboratory.

5. Project Management:

• Handling any assigned projects, which may involve additional responsibilities or tasks as required.

Minimum qualifications and Requirements:

1. Educational Background:

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or related discipline or a related field.

Experience:

• Minimum of 2-3years’ of relevant working experience.

3. Languages:

• Well-versed in English, Malay and Chinese. Mandarin speaker are preference.

4. Skills:

• High level of communication skills with the ability to engage and collaborate with individuals at organizational levels.

• Able to work independent and fast learning.

• Basic computer skill Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and others.
